The Ascend Centers are comprised of four offices that offer Â鶹APPstudents unique opportunities to enhance their undergraduate experience both within Â鶹APPand beyond. Our offices offer integrated academic opportunities in research, scholarship, and leadership to prepare students for success and help them achieve their individual goals while here at Â鶹APPand in the postgraduate space.

Above all, our center is dedicated to helping students refine their personal, professional, and academic goals.

Leadership Foundry

Â鶹APPforges leaders of character—bold in vision, disciplined in action, and committed to serving their region, nation, and world. Through immersive learning and lived leadership, students transform purpose into impact.

As part of the Leadership Foundry's focus on measuring and expanding leadership development across the university, faculty are invited to assess their eligible classes with the Leadership Competencies rubric.

To participate, faculty can submit a short form along with their syllabus to demonstrate how their course enhances one or more of the four UNG Leadership Competencies. After the submission is approved, faculty members can add the Leadership Competencies rubric into D2L.

Ascend Centers

Center for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities

CURCA’s mission is to enhance student learning by supporting active engagement in undergraduate research and creative activities. To do so, CURCA offers workshops, programming, and funding opportunities to support students and faculty in their intellectual and creative pursuits at UNG.

Honors Program

The Honors Program on the Dahlonega and Gainesville campuses provides an environment of support and challenge to curious, academically motivated students who wish to enhance their learning experience at Â鶹APPthrough participation in research, leadership, and service. We invite students to learn, lead, and serve in this enriching, innovative academic community.

McNair Scholars Program

The McNair Scholars Program provides mentorship and scaffolded graduate school preparation to first generation college students with financial need or members of a group traditionally underrepresented in graduate education. Through McNair, students receive funding to complete research and other scholarly activities in preparation for post-graduate studies.

Nationally Competitive Scholarships Office

The Nationally Competitive Scholarships office works with Â鶹APPstudents to identify scholarships, fellowships, and research opportunities that align with their goals. After choosing a scholarship (or 3!), our mentors work with you from first draft to final interview prep to make your application the best it can be.
